New info about Tim Burton’s next film ‘Dark Shadows’ Tim Burton: “There’s a strange tone to the movie. … It’s got such a strange vibe. And it’s not something that a lot of people necessarily know. You’re trying to do a weird soap opera. I felt really lucky, because the cast is really good. People like Michelle [Pfeiffer] grew up watching it. Some of the cast knew about it. As far as I’m concerned, Tim Burton has lost his muchness. To me, this was basically Batman as opposed to Batman Returns, which isn’t to say it was bad, at all. It was fairly okay. But it didn’t have much personality. Edward Scissorhands Suburbia was presented as more of a freakshow than wonderland. It was as if he was just the director for hire, and it was Disneys trip. For example, both the writer and the cinematographer are Disney alumni, the writer having written Beauty and the Beast, Lion King etc and the cinematographer is from Pirates of the Caribbean. Maybe if he’d wrangled up his own crew of misfits? Who knows… ALSO, step the fuck back from CG, OKAY? It’s not working, babe. Three out of five ipods.
