So I designed a Tumblr theme for Halloween. But being the lazy shit I am, I never got round to finishing the build of it. (seriously I was so close too). The part that took me the longest was trying to find the faggiest part of Halloween. It endend up taking the form of Elvira in the logo. Pretty effing gay right?

Hooray! I finally finished redesigning ‘Name that film’. Like Faggotry it fits within the same aesthetic as Extra Firm Hold, you know, like a family. I have to say by the way, I am well impressed by the huge number of correct answers, and how fast y’all are at guessing. I’m gonna need to start increasing the volume of screens I post by a bajillion or so. Anyway, Mannequin is on right now, and Hollywood Montrose awaits.

Locked, loaded and tagged
Finally, 267* of all my posts have been tagged. Organised into their various categories. So as not to limit myself, I added new tags to some posts that I haven’t yet added into the filtering system. I don’t think I will add these categories either (example: Tina Fey)… I wouldn’t mind figuring out some more interesting ways to stumble upon a particular category/topic/tag… So far, if you want to find something that I haven’t included in the ‘filter posts’ section, you can just add the tag to the site url after ‘tagged/’ (example: extrafirmhold.tumblr.com/tagged/dean). I might later make all tags visible for each post, but meh, I like it stripped bare? Maybe there’s something super fly that I could do, like that Tumblr ‘Listen’ Easter egg or some shit… I SHALL PONDER.

My God, I finally got around to phase 2 of the Extra Firm Hold Redesign, which quite simply was just supposed to be icons for the nav, and a lovely ‘Faggotry’ link. Did it really need to take two months before I got off my ass and did it? Pretty much, yeah – the reason being is that I wanted to maybe do a little bit more than that. SO, thanks to the Tumblr staff for implementing the usage of tags, I’ve now added a filtering system at the top, so you can see posts by category. There’s the standard category type – audio, video, photo etc. But there’s also categories for my interests, and musings on particular topics (ie. Faggotry = all things gay). Don’t get too excited yet, I still have another 150 posts to edit with tags before they’re ALL categorized, so far I’m half way. Still, all the new stuff is here and designed, so it can be played with. Let me know if there’s any bugs/ fuckups/ double-tagging. Oh, and time for a sticker re-fresh me thinks – didn’t I say I’d change the logo monthly? So, so lazy.

While I’d thought long and hard about the ramifications of adding commenting to this blog, and breaking my ‘stream of consciousness’. I concluded: Fuck it. It was easy to plug in, so why the hell not.
Meanwhile, my effing laptop has packed it in and won’t even boot up - so I’m now using my work laptop at home. Also, thank-you customer support person ‘Ari’ for reminding me four times over that my warranty has expired (you’re expired).
I’m going to have to take it to Mt Wellington to get it fixed. Did you know people GET SHOT in Mt Wellington? Well, no they don’t - BUT IT LOOKS LIKE YOU COULD

A little EXTRA firm hold
Hey y’all. I finally got round to customizing this gosh darn blog. I’d done a little bit here and there earlier, music feeds, text adjustments blah blah. But I had always planned on skinning it myself at one point. However I did become accustomed to the standard Tumblr theme that I picked in the beginning. It was pretty sexy. I decided to keep a few aspects of it: Left alignment, width, text styles etc. Besides it makes my life easier. Anyways, whilst i’m finished for the most part, there’s a couple of other things I still want to do. But now that the majority of the changes are done, the little things can be done in small sporadic updates. Hoorah! More than anything, I am astounded at my achievement of actually doing web build outside of work - Now that takes motivation. I’ve earned myself some BK, me thinks.
