ZOWIE — “My Calculator” I dare you to get 1 1 1 and a 6 6 6 and a 2 2 2 and a 3 3 3 out of your head now. (via sam-pop) Another NZ pop artist to be aware of!
Miike Snow - ‘Paddling Out’. Fun facts: Miike Snow wrote Britney Spears ‘Toxic’. So if you’re not into them, or even this, then perhaps you should go outside and let hungry dogs eat your eyeballs and butt? *blows bubble pipe, looks concerned and not v sympathetic*
Kimbra - ‘Cameo Lover’. Okay so this is over a year old now, but not being in New Zealand I was unawares. The breadcrumb trail went like this: Gotye - ‘Somebody I used to Know’ ft Kimbra. Google: ‘Kimbra’. “Oh she’s a NZ’er. Guess it’s my patriotic duty to see if she’s any good”. Find: ‘Cameo Lover’. Face melts in ecstasy. Dogs howl at the noises I scream. This motherfucker has been on repeat for over a month now. I refuse, REFUSE to stop. Have bought a portable tambourine to break out during tense moments (tense moments include: ‘raccoon attacks’, and ‘agressors at a Burger King’)
Crowded House - ‘Don’t Dream It’s Over’ (Live). I am so ridiculously homesick you have no idea. I keep seeing pictures of friends at vineyards, or out enjoying the beach or general greenery of NZ, and it’s making me tear up just a bit. I never thought I’d miss the quietude of NZ or even the landscape (they’re just trees and rocks, yo!). But I guess, in a super gay way, I miss all my stupid gay friends, and my stupid gay family (to a MUCH lesser degree - hi dumb-heads!). So it probably wasn’t a good idea that I went and bought The Best of Crowded House to clean the house to. Because that broom ended up snapped in half while I lay on the roof and stared up at the sky listening to this song, and longing for a glass of wine in the sun with all my kiwi bros ;_;
B. Ames - ‘Beautiful, Spooky & Stupid’ (Sharon Needles) #TEAMNEEDLES (via jkjkjkjkjkjkjkjkjkjk) I will literally be over Sharon Needles once she wins ala Raja. But in the meantime, this blog is Sharon Needles non-stop, all of the times. Very good work, everyone involved in this - I am eating an easter egg in your honour. From 2011.
Mark Ronson — Somebody To Love Me via blaaargh) You know why this song is here! I took the job in Toronto. But for anyone who’s interested, I’ll be working in NYC from tomorrow till Sunday. Let’s get la-oud!
My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult - ‘Somebody New’. Didn’t even REALISE I had this on my iTunes? It’s from the Showgirls soundtrack and it’s making me drink all these wines. “What wines?” … Exactly.
Ladyhawke - “White, Black & Blue”. Posting this again because UNFFF
Anxiety is the upcoming second studio album by New Zealand recording artist Ladyhawke, set to be released on 19 March 2012.[1][2] Recorded in early 2011 with co-writer and producer Pascal Gabriel, the album will be Ladyhawke’s return to music in two years.
Ladyhawke premiered several of the tracks from the album during performances at the 100 Club in London, the Phoenix Bar in Sydney and The Tote Hotel inMelbourne, including tracks such as “Vaccine”, “Blue Eyes” and “Sunday Drive”.[1][3] ”Black White & Blue” was released as the album’s lead single on 24 January 2012.[4][2][5]
Ladyhawke - ‘Black White & Blue’ (via) PIP IS BACK! (she’s my McRib) This Eyes of Laura Mars inspired video was also directed by Queens of Noize DJ Tabitha Denholm.
AAAAAAAAAAH! Ladyhawke makes me so happy!!! If I was to describe the perfect ear-audio passion project (passion project is when you ear fuck with a tongue) her sound would be it!! Let’s go drive into the open desert with our labias hanging outttttt!
Florrie - “Left Too Late”. (via forwhenifeellikesharing) I forgot about you Florrie, I’m so sorry girl. I loved you so much cos your lyrics were basically “FAGGOT FAGGOT FAGGOT FAGGOT FAGGOT FAGGOT FAGGOT FAGGOT FAGGOT FAGGOT”
‘Down In It’ (Nine Inch Nails Cover) - Tiga. (via variegate & absurdlakefront) Oh God! In my recent quest to listen to Jennifer Paige’s ‘Crush’ on repeat in my travels (while simultaneously imagining it as my parody version of it from when it came out - “it’s just, a little flush’”), I totally forgot about the importance of listening to Tiga. It’s very important!
N’Sync - ‘It’s Gonna Be Me’. The first 3 seconds and I just… I just reverberate across the rom. (‘rom’ - Queens English. Meaning: ‘room’. See: Maxwell Sheffield)
Lady Gaga – ‘Dance in the Dark’. Probably my favourite? DANCE INSTRUCTIONS: Go to an Ice Creamery sponsorship programme (A Baskin Robbins) and set up a rotating device (people pushing a platform around in circles for you). Stand in the center of it, clasp your hands together, attach the cardboard Manga teardrop to your face and proceed to rotate in a circle as you dream of all 32 flavours being thrown at your naked body. Continue till end of song. Pay the Mexicans that were rotating your platform with the money you earned from creating the 32nd Baskin Robbins flavour: ‘Lettuce’.
