Mistletoe can be deadly if you eat it. But a kiss can be deadlier, if you mean it.

The Dark Knight: Eric Roberts big break

Can Eric Roberts please fuck off? Your career died when you did that Mariah Carey video. Okay? So ANYWAY, I’m gonna start this rant by saying that my initial reaction to the movie was ‘overwhelmed’? Exhausted? Confused? I’m not sure. While I loathe the idea of having to sit through a 2 ½ hour film AGAIN, I feel I may have to, as I can’t quite say how I feel about it, other than “It was good. Very good”. And that’s pretty much all I’ve got.

I read Theo’s review, all of it. And I have to say it pretty much sums up everything I was thinking , with a few differences (list time!):

  • I like Aaron Eckhart. But not as Harvey Dent, OR as Two-Face. Harvey is one of my fav Batman characters of all time, and to relegate him as a plot device for the Jokers arch kinda bummed me out (even though it was a great storyline, Heath, babe). I guess I felt the character was undercooked just a little? Maybe as T said, I may have to see it two or three times. I dunno, I wanted a little more brewing to happen before the transformation. Plus his blonde hair made him look like a faggot.
  • Christian Bale? Eh, who cares, let’s be honest, Heath stole the show. Period.
  • Maggie Gyllenhaal. Hey babe! Spoken to Katie much? Reckon she could have done better? Yeah sure, she would have been amazing…Psyche! High five to YOU Darl. Me you and your bro will talk about it later..
  • HEATH. Well, there’s not much I can say that hasn’t already been said. He’s truly created a character that makes the most sense in the world of Batman. He just “wants to watch the world burn”. And in that world, there really are no rules or boundaries, and that’s what makes the Joker so scary.

I don’t really want to get into the themes. Because it’s pretty fucking boring to write about, so it makes more sense to just tell you to go see it. For the future? Well, given the popularity of Nolan’s treatment for these characters, it really would be great to do a clean sweep of the Rogues Gallery, you know, I mean Uma, darling as much as I LOVE how camp you were as Ivy. I’m gonna need to see that character again. Ditto to you too Freeze. Whattya reckon?
